\\r\\n The Danelec Data Analysis application generates reports that provide performance insights from vessel data. It does this by comparing key relationships in the data and through the statistical analysis of the logged data points.\\r\\n The Data Analysis application uses the high frequency data, collected via Vessel Insight, to generate reports showing, both numerically and graphically, actual and predicted values extracted from the dataset\\r\\n It provides the user with a tool to highlight actions required to raise ship performance and to assist in making decisions to optimize ship efficiency.\\r\\n The application includes the following features:\\r\\n
\\r\\nAfter using the assigned username and password to log into the application, all the vessels subscribed to the application will be available for analysis.
\\r\\nAfter a vessel has been selected for analysis, the main application window is displayed.
\\r\\nAfter an analysis has been performed, the parameters used may be saved as a Preset for future use.
\\r\\n\\r\\n You may use the 'Save/Load Presets' drop-down box to save or to open a previously stored setup.\\r\\n A Preset may contain a selected timespan, exclusion filter or baseline curves.\\r\\n An unlimited number of Presets may be defined in the application.\\r\\n All Presets are user and vessel specific, so different Presets may be defined for different vessels as required.\\r\\n
\\r\\n\\r\\n The first item to be specified is the baseline curve, against which the data will be compared.\\r\\n The curve is set up by entering a number of reference points which the application will then fit a curve of the required type to.\\r\\n As an example, we will consider setting up analysis of Shaft Power vs. Vessel Speed:\\r\\n
\\r\\nThe first step is to name each curve. In our example we will define one curves for ballast.
\\r\\nWe must specify the parameter that appears on each axis, selecting them from a drop-down list of all the available parameters.
\\r\\nX-axis: For our example we will choose \\\"Ship Speed Log\\\" to be the variable on the x-axis, but it could equally well be \\\"Ship Speed over ground\\\", if that seems more appropriate.
\\r\\nY-axis: For the y-axis we will select \\\"Shaft Power\\\".
\\r\\n\\r\\n The available curve types are \\\"Linear\\\", \\\"Power\\\", and \\\"Polynomial\\\". If \\\"Polynomial\\\" is selected, then a 2nd-5th Order curve may be fitted.\\r\\n Any curve type of the three curve types may be chosen, depending on the level of interpolation between each point required, and on the form of the underlying data. For instance, we would expect our Power vs. Speed curve to be best represented by a higher order polynomial.\\r\\n As each parameter is changed, or data points added or removed, the curve will be recalculated and displayed. In this way, it is possible to see how well a given curve type matches the supplied data points and to fine-tune the curve to fit the specific requirements.\\r\\n After setting up the curve, it is possible to edit it later if further data becomes available.\\r\\n It is also possible to delete any curve.\\r\\n
\\r\\nSpecify the correlation between the X-axis and Y-axis variables in the table, by adding as many curve points as required.
\\r\\n\\r\\n It is possible to select supplemental parameters that will appear both as additional columns in summary the table and as extra information associated with the graph\\r\\n For instance, if we were to add \\\"Shaft Speed\\\" to our plot then the summary table will show an additional column, containing the average shaft speeds over the corresponding time periods.\\r\\n The appropriate average will also appear as a line in the pop-up box that appears when the mouse pointer is held over one of the points on the graph.\\r\\n
\\r\\n\\r\\n When all the required curves have been set up, the next step is to specify the time span that the analysis will cover. The period can be expressed\\r\\n either as \\\"the last x days\\\" or as a specific timespan: typically from the start to finish of a voyage.\\r\\n
\\r\\n\\r\\n The next option, \\\"Duration Period\\\", allows the granularity of the output to be changed. The default is 24 hours but it is possible to\\r\\n select, for example, 12-hour periods if required.\\r\\n
\\r\\n\\r\\n The application offers the ability to set up filters to exclude data which was not collected under normal operating conditions and is therefore\\r\\n not representative. Below one example which filters out data collected in high wind (above 15 knots), or in 'Laden' condition (above 12.5 m).\\r\\n
\\r\\nTwo types of filter are available:
\\r\\n\\r\\n If a logical AND operation is required, for instance \\\"Exclude STW above 20 knots, unless SOG is also above 20 knots\\\", then separate filter groups\\r\\n must be defined for each condition. Then both conditions must be valid before the period is excluded. Note that combining a time range filter with\\r\\n a filter group will result in a set of conditions that apply only within the specified time window.\\r\\n
\\r\\nIf the exclusion conditions are met, then the data for that \\\"Duration Period\\\" will not appear in the output.
\\r\\nAn example of a plot with the day-by-day summary is shown here.

\\r\\n\\r\\n The graph may be printed or exported in different formats (PNG, JPEG, PDF, SVG) by clicking on the menu symbol in the upper right corner.\\r\\n Furthermore, a detailed XLS report is available by clicking on the 'Download Report' button.\\r\\n
\\r\\n\\r\\n The Data Analysis application also includes an extrapolation/prediction feature where the user may specify a value for the X-axis\\r\\n (in this example the STW), and the system will calculate the predicted Y-axis (here the predicted Shaft Power) based on the time\\r\\n span, exclusion filters and curve fit model selected.\\r\\n
\\r\\n\\r\\n The Danelec Data Analysis application allows for the collection and comparison of vessel performance\\r\\n data by analysing the\\r\\n correlations of key variables. High frequency data is collected from relevant sensors, filtered, compared, and\\r\\n used for reporting.\\r\\n This application will be a vital tool for any shipowner/manager to raise ship performance awareness and identify\\r\\n efficiency issues\\r\\n onboard.
